How to Install Snap-Lock Metal Studs

The Snap-Lock framing system replaces welded or screwed metal studs with profiles that click together using pre-formed corner brackets. No welding, no special tools, and a shower or partition frame goes up in a fraction of the usual time. Here is the assembly sequence.

Step-by-step installation

  1. Set out the frame Mark the wall or shower footprint on floor and walls, noting anchor and support-foot positions.
  2. Fix anchors Bolt galvanized anchor connectors and L-angles to floor and walls with expansion bolts.
  3. Assemble profiles Click C-profiles into pre-formed corner brackets and snap-lock joints - no welding.
  4. Level the frame Adjust support feet so the frame is level and plumb on uneven floors.
  5. Close open ends Fit end caps, pipe connectors and rubber covers on open profiles.
  6. Fix backer board Screw 6-20 mm backer board to the frame with the washer-disc fixing kit; tile-ready.

Frequently asked questions

What load can snap-lock framing take?

It is designed for non-load-bearing wet-room and partition framing. Confirm the exact rating with the supplier for your panel span and tile weight.

Can it be used on uneven floors?

Yes. Adjustable support feet level the frame on out-of-true floors without shimming or cutting.

What tools are needed?

Basic site tools - drill, level and wrench. No welder and no specialist labour.

Is it compatible with backer board?

Yes. The fixing kit's washer-disc screws fasten 6-20 mm backer boards straight to the profiles.

Aluminium or steel?

Both are offered. Aluminium is lighter and corrosion-resistant; steel is stiffer for longer spans.
